This however only seemed to be an issue when knowing when to fill up gas. We have an additional gas tank in the trunk for emergencies, but as long as you keep it topped off every so often, there are no problems.
Since there is nowhere on the island you can go in a hurry, the speedometer isn’t wholly necessary, and doing routine checks on your radiator fluid and oil levels allowed us to make sure it is always in running order.
